Last semester, my GPA was rubbish. I was basically a straight A student in high school, and I got to college and my GPA tanked. I didn’t even go out and drink or party that much. The freedom made me lose control. I stopped caring about doing work on time because I didn’t think it would negatively affect me. I basically was like “I can handle this, this is nothing.”
This philosophy, while slightly truthful, was my downfall. I had pretty amazing grades considering the amount of work I did, but if I had studied a tiny bit more, I would have had As and high Bs. I stopped caring because I realized I could skim by without doing a lot of work. This really screwed me over because this semester I really have to over compensate for the slight damage I did last semester.
Anyway, I’ve compiled a few tips that I’m using to stay on top of everything I’m doing!
1) GOOGLE CALENDAR IS YOUR BEST FRIEND
I don’t know where I would be without Google Calendar. Lost forever in the froth of the universe probably. I color coded all of my classes because I am a Type A personality like that, but it really does help. If you put in each assignment twice, once when you need to do it and once when it’s due, you’ll never miss anything. I just transferred everything from my syllabuses/syllabi into the program and it’s awesome because it all syncs to my iPhone calendar as well. This is not a Google plug I swear (but if you guys want to pay me that’s cool too).
If you click the photo, I think it will get bigger so you can read everythinggg.
2) FIND A GOOD STUDY PLAYLIST
I absolutely love studying with music and can do anything without it. I know a lot of people who absolutely hate studying with music and I’m pretty sure they’re just listening to the wrong type of music. I think I’ve talked about this before but my absolute favorite study playlist is from 8tracks, and it’s called Study Haven. It’s the perfect instrumental playlist for studying/reading/writing in my eyes.
3) DON’T BE AFRAID TO TAKE BREAKS
I’m moving into an apartment next semester so I’ve been on Pinterest looking up decorating ideas during every free moment I have. You can find me on Pinterest here, if you want to see the stuff I’ve been saving.
I don’t feel bad about taking breaks because they’re productive. And by that I mean they involve plans for the future so whateverrrrr I’m not sweatin’ it.
