From drugstores to department stores and beyond, the beauty releases of 2013 have been, in a word, BADASS. Colors were more pigmented, new formulas lasted an eternity, and cutting edge technology made my beauty routine easier than ever.

Another plus? This year’s products felt entirely luxurious, from packaging to results. With a (brightly shaded) discerning eye, I took a look back at this totally gorgeous year. If you spend that Christmas cash on anything beauty, go for gold with the following products.

10. Herbal Essences Body Wash

One time my friend Alyssa was at a party and, like a commercial, a guy leaned over, smelled her hair and said, “Is that Herbal Essences?” I’m not kidding. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if lots of women had stories like this. I mean, have you smelled this stuff?! And now it comes in a body wash, so you can smell like heaven from head to toe.

9. MAC Lipstick in Heroine

This shade first came out this summer with MAC’s Fashion Sets and was eventually put into the discontinued vault with so many other seasonal shades. The difference here? An uproar occurred, begging for Heroine back, reaching a peak after Pantone announced Radiant Orchid as 2014’s Color of the Year. And on December 16, unicorns pranced and angels cried tears of joy as MAC re-released the shade online. And, pssst! It’ll be in stores January 2!

8. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain

As someone who’s not usually into the glossy look, it took me a long time to try out this product. But when I did? Totally converted. It’s got the pigmentation that gloss usually lacks, and also manages to stay on pretty damn long. Try out Pourpre, my favorite shade, for a soft, sexy, purple sheen.

7. Benefit Brow Zings

I’ve had some serious thick brow lust this year – we’re talking Cara Delevingne thick. I spent all year trying pencils and powders galore before discovering this easy-peasy kit. It comes in three totally universal shades and features a gel, powder, tweezers and two brushes so brows can look flawless-yet-natural in a snap. I like to tweeze any strays, apply the gel first with the angled brush, and then fill in any holes with the straight brush dipped in the powder.

6. Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow

I don’t even know where to begin. Miranda and I must have mentioned these in our videos 5,000 times. In a range of shades from subtle neutrals to eye-catching brights, these shadows are truly all you need to create any look. Plus, their creamy texture makes them so easy to apply with your finger. Oh, and check your lids after an entire night of wear – I promise, this stuff won’t budge.

5. Fresh Creme Ancienne Ultimate Nourishing Honey Mask

Every winter, I try – and fail – to finally find a way to keep my skin flake-free despite indoor heaters, hot showers, and icy wind. After all, what kind of canvas for makeup is a flaky face?! This product, though, has changed the game. I smother this honey and echinacea-infused mask on my face during a long bath, and when I rinse it off: voila! smooth, hydrated skin! And Fresh has really created a multitasker here: the mask also has anti-aging properties!

4. Lime Crime Velvetines in Pink Velvet

Ahh, the things I do for beauty. Remember a few months ago when I tested out my Red Velvet Velvetine by sleeping in it? Well, spoiler alert: this stuff LASTS. Forever. And it’s oh-so-beautifully-matte on, and highly pigmented, and easy to apply. Could you ask for more in a lip product? However, I was always disappointed that it only came in two shades. This holiday season, my prayers were answered when this pink shade was released. Absolutely stunning.

3. Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

I missed the boat on Vice 1, and when this baby was released, I knew I wouldn’t let THAT happen again. I tend to be a little shy about using bright shades, but this palette makes it so irresistibly easy that I now often find myself going out into the world with – gasp! – a bright purple eye. Also, I truly cannot do this palette justice without mentioning Shellshock, its super-pigmented, flawless silver shade. Seriously, it’s worth the $59 on its own! And once you snag this awesome buy, make sure to check out our YouTube tutorial to find out exactly how to use it.

2. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

You might think you have the perfect mascara already. You may be tempted to just skip past this product, and move on to #1. I was there once. I thought my Revlon Grow Luscious mascara and I would be together forever. Soon enough, though, I ran off with this (aptly-named) product. My lashes have never been so long and thick, end of story… Wow, I apologize for this oddly sexual description. But with such flirty lashes, I can’t help it!

1. L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm

As a total makeup junkie, I never would’ve dreamed that a hair product would be #1 on my list this year. But then I dyed my hair platinum blonde, and I could practically feel my hair groaning from root to tip. One use of this mask and my hair felt smooth and silky like my virgin hair. They’re not lying when they say it repairs a year of damage in one use! And the more you use it, the healthier your hair will get. You’ll never see me using another conditioner ever again.

Thanks for checking out my 2013 favorites! What beauty products have you been obsessed with this year?
