MOVIE REVIEW: BLUE VALENTINE

Never in my life has a movie made me so angry. This movie makes me so angry. I just finished watching it if you can’t tell by my seriously strong emotions here.

Blue Valentine is the story of a couple who have basically fallen out of love. They are trying to make their marriage work but it just doesn’t feel right anymore. The movie follows them now, as they reminisce on the past and how they met and the good days of their relationship. The movie stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, and it’s one of the most frustrating movies I’ve ever seen. I usually relate to the female character in romantic movies, but in this movie, I was actually relating to Ryan Gosling’s character more. I think that’s how the film is designed, I’m sure, but it was interesting to see things from his perspective. It’s hard to not like Ryan Gosling anyway.

This movie is frustrating because all you want the entire time is for both of them to cooperate and realize how in love they were and yada yada, but nothing works. It’s so irritating. I guess I’m a hopeless romantic at heart, or else it’s all these damn romantic dramas I’ve been watching lately since I’ve obviously run out of movies about crazy people. I don’t know, I’m just like gah. Anyway, I took some screenshots while I was watching this on Netflix so these photos are actually significant rather than Googled. These are some of my favorite moments. And damn straight, watch this movie.
