MOVIE REVIEW: FROZEN

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good Disney “princess” movie. I normally just do my little Disney-Pixar dance in the corner like I did with Monsters University, but Disney really upped it’s game on this one.

I never saw Brave or Tangled so I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the new wave of Disney princesses, but I absolutely loved it. I think it’s the best Disney musical I’ve seen in a while.

To go along with the adorable storyline is a slew of Broadway stars, see Idina Menzel (Wicked, Rent), Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, Glee), Josh Gad (Book of Mormon), and Santino Fontana (Cinderella, Billy Elliot). In addition, Kristen Bell voices heroine Anna, which really surprised me because who knew she could sing…

The whole movie is just adorable. The songs are super catchy and the characters are so lovable.

What I really loved about Frozen is how interesting all of the characters were. They’re all very quirky and unique; they’re not your typical archetypes. The two sisters who are central to the plot, Anna and Elsa, play two different sides of the same girl. One who embraces her flaws and one who is afraid of them.

The story has such a good message for kids. It’s all about how love conquers our fears and yada yada but trust me it’s adorable. I snorted a few times and there were a couple of tears shed during the heartwarming moments. All of the supporting characters are silly and adorable and so amazing.

I highly recommend this movie. Even if you don’t think you’re going to be into a Disney musical, you’re wrong. It’s so great.
